
Now, Mitsubishi has been honored with an U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2007 Climate Protection award for developing a 30 percent more efficient automotive A/C unit. The power saving automatic air conditioner was devised in collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
In the venture, MHI devised a novel compressor and other machinery. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) put in the air conditioner to a Mitsubishi Outlander on-road SUV model and achieved enhanced the operational efficiency of the system by upgrading the vehicle body and the control system.
MMC will drop an Outlander model equipped with the Power-saving air conditioner in the North American market this fall.
