The new Fiat 500 has been awarded the EuroCarBody 2007 honor which is also considered as the world’s most prestigious prize for car bodies. Organized by Automotive Circle International, the ninth edition of the Forum was held in Bad Nauheim, Frankfurt.

Fiat 500 snatched 38.33 points out of a possible 50, defeating other 11 contenders form Japan, the United States, Europe and Russia. Predominantly, the contribution made by the innovative bodyshell to the car’s NCAP 5-star rating, and class 11 ‘Insurer Impact’ appraisals were the grounds for appreciation.

The EuroCarBody 2007 emphasize that it is a vital award which highlights the mixture of ‘creativity and skill’ that is crucial to develop an innovative, winning bodyshell. All international car makers can compete with a maximum of two cars per brand.

The obligatory condition is that they must be standard production cars, manufactured within 12 months of the official launch. Further, the bodyshells are displayed in such a way that it can be analyzed during presentations and in depth debate, judged on the basis of 23 evaluation criteria grouped in 5 macro areas.

The Forum was attended by 600 specialists from 15 international carmakers.
