For Chris Lentz of Michigan, getting 231hp from his F-150s V8 probably wasn’t good enough, so he decided to get a huge power boost. And that led to the huge $10,000 Czechoslovakian Motorlet M-701 turbojet sitting in the pickup, and producing massive amounts of power. To get 2700hp power from the jet engine, the velocity has to be 516mph, something this pickup will never reach.
The jet engine is fed by a 20-gallon kerosene tank, and the entire assembly weighs a heavy 6600lbs. With that kind of weight, the F-150 completes a zero to 60mph dash in around 8.5 seconds, and the top speed of 140mph comes after 45 seconds of acceleration. Not very impressive figures, but hey, it is a pickup getting power from a turbojet!
