Team Spyker will now be Force India, for an all new 2008 season. The Exuberant Dutch F1 team will be switching the name for the fourth time since inception. Present owner of the team Vijay Mallya along with Michiel Mol are seeking an approval from the F1 authorities regarding this change.
.The change was revealed by Vijay Mallya in the midst of the Brazilian Grand Prix scene at Interlagos on this Sunday. Mr. Mallya Cited ‘We have applied to the FIA for a change in name of the company and the team from Spyker to Force India,’ he said, according to the news agency Reuters. ‘I think that sums it all up as to why I am here.’
If we listen to some of the sources the new name has already received an approval from Bernie Ecclestone the chief executive at F1, but the change must also be agreed by the other teams as well. After this process, it will be submitted to World Motor Sports Council for a final confirmation.
