Add another one to the list of accessories that claim to magically increase fuel efficiency. FastSkinz from FastWraps claims, its use of “golf ball technology” can magically improve the aerodynamics of the car to provide 18-20 percent improvement in fuel efficiency. The theory is simple, if the dimpled surface can better aerodynamics on a golf ball, it should do the same for the car too. Good to hear, only, it’s a car, not some golf ball.
Apart from the fact that it makes the car look ugly, the “skin” still needs independent testing to confirm its claims, which we believe may not be possible. As Dvice puts it: If this actually works it would be amazing, but the fact that aircraft and race cars aren’t already covered in dimples seems a bit suspicious.

Pres. Obama is now trying to get dealerships to offer a great cash advance for trading in older vehicles. The idea here is to motivate people to buy vehicles with greater fuel efficiency, or use public transportation. We’re entering an age of green practices, and driving around a Pontiac Bonneville the size of an elephant just isn’t the greatest idea any more. At any rate, those of us that wish to dispossess ourselves of a gas hog in lieu of something that is a bit lighter on the wallet, Cash for Clunkers might be just what the doctor ordered.
