restored version of the aurora by andy saunders

Branford, CT parish, Father Alfred Juliano back in 1950 dared to design a car which was very unlike a priest, but then his effort was resonant enough to have a few parishioners fund him partially. The car had a popular feature back in the 50’s; indeed the feature itself had a name, Aurora, or was it the name of the car itself, we are yet to discover.

Want to know why the car was in news back in the 50’s? It was deemed to be the safest car of that era and hence it got the name ‘Safety Car’. Father Juliano thought of designing a car which would be the safest automobile in the world and all that he used as a basis was a saved Buick Chassis.

After all his efforts to design the ultra-safe car, it was the press unveiling where Fr. Juliano realised that he had made a mockery of the design and he eventually ended up in debt, finally forced to leave his order.

Ask me what happened to the Fathers’ Sinful Car; well it ended up at the garage to make up for the debt. The gleaming fact remains that the car finally resurrected itself with the help of Englishmen, Andy Saunders. Saunders who runs an auto import and customization business restored the car after which it appeared at certain events and museums. It’s biggest resurrection was its presence at the Goodwood.

Fr. Juliano couldn’t have wished better for the cars end, though he would have wished for a better beginning, never the less, the sinful cars redemption was a pleasing thing to pen down.
