Scheduled to make an official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Ferrari 458 Italia has great design on the interior to match its exterior. A very striking part of the interior is the supercar’s Formula 1 racing inspired steering wheel. Tight cockpits of Formula 1 cars don’t allow conventional dashboard full of gauges and switches, and most of the buttons move to the steering wheel. While the cockpit of the 458 Italia isn’t “tight,” many buttons have moved to the steering wheel.
Putting buttons on convenient locations at the steering wheel means the driver does not have to take hands off the steering wheel to access these functions. Ferrari has put most of the buttons very close to the steering wheel, if not on the wheel. The major functions like Engine Start, wiper controls, and turn indicators, are placed on the steering wheel. The secondary inputs are placed on two satellite pods placed on either side of the wheel.
