Can you imagine what could happen if a Vette and a Pacer shared a garage one night? Well, putting a station wagon body on a Ferrari engine is as bizarre as the aforementioned. Sultan of Brunei Darussalam has been listed as the world’s richest man for longer than most people can remember and as you can guess, this limited edition Ferrari 456 (Venice) is being built by Pininfarina at the request of the royal family.
I’ve heard that the Sultan of Brunei was one of Ferrari’s best customers and had many custom cars built to his specs. This station wagon features a 20 cm longer wheelbase and four doors. I have to admit that this model exemplifies that sports cars and station wagons don’t go well together!

You’ve got to admit, they may have solved one of the most controversial marriage arguements known to man...I’ve always dreamed of owning a nice two seater sports car..Something fast, sleek, and only for 2, while my wife says, even if we had the money, what a waste, as we are a family of 5..She looks at minivans, I sight Ferraris..wa-la introducing the Ferrari stationwagon.
Imagine how crazy a car enthusiast could be if he owns a McLaren F1? A Dauer 962? A Mercedes CLK-GTR? These become nothing if compare with the Sultan of Brunei. His collection includes 8 McLaren F1s, 6 Dauer 962 LMs, the only right-hand-drive CLK-GTR in the world, a pair of Jaguar XJR-15, a Porsche 959, 3 Cizeta V16Ts, a Lamborghini Diablo Jota and 5,000 other premium cars.
His majesty is not a die-hard car enthusiast, but his playboy younger brother Prince Jefri and his eldest son Prince Haakem are. They buy and play the super cars like toys; get bored very soon, then buy new ones and store the old ones in any of the 4 huge garages (more like a warehouse in terms of volume) for forever. Some people have all the luck in the world! :(
It was custom built by Ferrari for the Sultanate of Brunei and is making me sick to my stomach. The only thing worse than paying Ferrari to build a station wagon is to make one yourself! I seriously suggest punching the person responsible for this in the face. Or just roundhouse kick them :P
At first I did think that Ferrari did kind of compromise its values, then I realized the only values they possess is making obscene amounts of money. I seriously doubt I am the only person unimpressed by any person’s wealth, excessive property or title. A ”sultan” is a person just like any other person from royalty to the homeless bum living on the street; no better, no worse. A total waste of such an awesome car!!
Nithya,
I am so Impressed. I didn’t know you were such a die hard enthusiest..Congrats...I see it as a waste, but like I said, people in marketing go for money..we see it all too ofton they break free from the spirit and tradition, for an extra buck.
This model is so indifferent with the former models Ferrari introduced in the market. Maybe they have tried to do something different and want to see the buyer’s and car enthusiast’s reaction to this. You can just add a Taylor cable decal to add looks instead of parts not suited for the ride.
