The Lockheed Martin F-35, formerly X-35, is here to oust the AV-8B Harrier, A-10 Thunderbolt II, F/A-18 Hornet and F-16 Fighting Falcon/Viper. It’s available in three models, first is the lightest and conventional F-35A (CTOL), next is the complex F-35B (STOVL) with vertical take-offs and landing facility and last is F-35C (CV) especially designed for the navy.
