Barrett Jackson auctions saw a number of cars going out for
big money. The first Challenger SRT8 that will roll out of the production lines
has been auctioned off for $400,000. Challenger has not even entered production
yet, but its hype ensured that it collected the neat pile of money. The car
will carry a plaque to identify it as the first ever Challenger SRT8 to roll
out of the factory.
The fastest and most powerful Corvette to date, the ZR1 had
a buyer who was willing to part ways with 1 million dollars to get hands on the
first ZR1 ever built. Both the cars sold way above the suggested price in the
market, the SRT 8 will cost nearly $37,995 while the ZR1 fetched nearly ten
times its price tag. Proceeds from the auction will go to various charities.
Another notable ‘vehicle’ sold at the auction was the
Robosaurus. The 29ton, 40-foot robot breathes fire through its nostrils and indulges itself in chewing and crushing cars with its bare teeth. Winning bidder got to take home the monstrous robot, a truckload of spare parts and accessories, and the special effects controls that make the wicked robot do its job with style, all for $575,000.
