Ford of Europe has plans about upgraded Focus ST and Fiesta models that will go on sale later this year. Existing owners won’t be left out in the cold as they will have an option of dealer-fit package retrospectively installed. These tuning kits have been developed by Mountune, and even though the fittings will be carried out by dealers, Ford will provide a warranty cover over these installations.
Fiesta ST will morph into Fiesta ST 185 and its 2.0-L engine will deliver 185bhp, that’s 37bhp more than the current model. This strikes off half a second from the zero to 60mph dash of the car, which comes down to 8 seconds. The extra horses also take the top speed up by a notch to reach 130mph. The kit includes upgraded engine management, ECU and new exhausts, all this for £950.
Up next is the Focus ST 260, with the help of a similar upgrade, the Focus will now command 260bhp in place of the stock 222bhp. Top speed goes up to 155mph and the zero to 60mph dash takes just 5.5 seconds. Upgrades for the Focus will cost £1,500. With the Focus ST 260 flaunting 260bhp, it is obvious that the upcoming Focus RS that is scheduled to be launched in 2009 be more of a powerhouse. Expect more than 300bhp in the RS.
