Let us make one thing very clear at the very beginning and that is the simple fact that if it were not for Henry Ford, the electric car might have survived a decade or two longer than it did. That in every sense of the word is a compliment to the genius named ‘Henry Ford’ and his immaculate work that made fossil fuel cars such a rave and in later years a necessity for everyone in USA and on the planet. The instrument that was Ford’s magic catalyst in this amazing transformation of commuting is the Ford Model T and we take a look at it today.

The Ford Model T is surely a very primitive model compared to today, but so was the Neanderthal man compared to today’s Human. Yet, if it were not for the early model in evolution, we would the final product and the next step of evolution would have never occurred. This is where Darwin can be considered an absolute genius as his theory of ‘progressive evolution’ not only applies for organic life but almost every product in the industry. The Ford Model T was a revelation for its time and it was that first step which has led to the today’s Ferraris and McLarens.

The 1914 Model T cost about $500 in its day. If that price were to be adjusted for inflation, that’s about $10,000 today. In every sense of the word, that is dead cheap. The journey on one of these magical chariots is truly special and obviously I’m not going to get it. It had one heck of a starting and stopping system that would be considered a joke in today’s world. But for all its early faults, the Ford Model T is the reason cars are where they are today. It was the first blueprint that was a commercial hit and till this day the formula still works!
