Ford Motor Company has confirmed the distribution of Ford Sync. Developed in conjunction with Microsoft, Ford Sync is an advanced in-car communication and entertainment system.

Sync will be a standard equipment on all Lincoln models and will be available on high end models of Ford and Mercury. This technology enables users to operate their digital media players like Apple iPod, Microsoft Zunes and their Bluetooth enabled mobile phones via voice commands or with the vehicle’s steering wheel or radio controls.

Sync is an on-board computer platform with software to make interaction between vehicles and portable media devices easy. Any change in technology cannot hamper sync greatly as the software for the product can be updated to keep up with technological advances.

Demand for digital music players has continuously been on the rise. The iPod is known to have a great fan following. Mobile phones have also become a part of life and more and more users want the ability to use digital media players and mobile phones in their vehicles.

Cisco Codina, Ford’s group vice president of North America Marketing, Sales and Service said:

Consumer reaction to Sync has been extremely positive since our launch earlier this year. This positive reaction has convinced us to make the system widely available across our range of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury products. The simplicity and capability of Sync have tremendous appeal and the affordability we are confirming today is certain to drive ever greater interest

Ford Sync will be available at a price of $395 for models where it is optional. This is just a step to what driving may be in the future. A lot of gadgets and high-tech accessories will soon make their way to automobiles.
