If at all Ford wants to save its depleting image in the US market, the only possible way for them to do it, is to launch a massive array of vehicles in the profitable small car market. They have recorded heavy losses this year, which is forcing them to take evasive cost cutting steps viz. lowering production and job cuts.
It is now an old hearsay that Ford will be shuttering a number of production facilities within US by 2008 and to add to it comes another disclosure from Ford’s Louisville, Kentucky plant. Ford will slow the production of the Explorer Sports Utility Vehicle in 2007. The Kentucky Plant’s employees received letters form the plants manager mentioning that there will be Job Cuts and the production will chopped down.
The letter does not disclose the number of employees to be axed but it did mention that the employees would get four opportunities to abscond the company next year. The Ford Explorer has been a lasting best-seller but with Ford’s image depleting in the US ,even the Explorer could not do any good as its sales have lowered owing to stern competition in the SUV Market and the towering gasoline prices.
