KY drives mentioned that Toyota had overtaken Ford in the US in terms of market share, which stands at 15% for Toyota in the American market, a share that the resurrecting Ford aims to achieve until the end of 2008.
This was a stat made available by KY back in December 2006 and it definitely gave a moral dent to Ford for it was the same month in which Toyota Overtook Ford’s overall sales in their very own market.
Four months down the line, Ford finally has something to cheer about as a latest survey reveals that Ford and Toyota are at par in terms of quality but the loose nook is the fact that the market research firm, RDA for Ford, led this survey.
This latest survey questioned over 31,000 new vehicle owners and it revealed that Fords preliminary quality stats for 2007 are equivalent to that of its Japanese Compatriot.
Mercury Milan, which is based on Ford CD3 Design Platform, was declared as one of the most trouble free cars in its first 90 days of ownership with only 910 issues per 1000 units. Other Ford vehicles that led their respective market surveys in their segment were the Expedition EL, Lincoln Navigator, and the Shelby GT500.
Ford was at par with Toyota, which would definitely give them some confidence in terms of their future marketing strategy but they weren’t the ones who led this survey as the laurels went to Honda, which bagged the top position.
However, Detroit news has confirmed the above mentioned study thus Ford will take a positive from this review and would try to evolve better quality products with themes like the Kinetic Design Language for they now have the confidence of their own people , backing them up .
