A lot of options are in store for vehicles when it comes to fuel. Even with high gas prices, gasoline is still being used more than ever. Diesel Hybrid is turning out to be a good option as for the gasoline goes. Hydrogen is also popularizing when it comes to fuel options.
A bit different but Plus Natural Gas is also a good option to fill up your car. Natural-Gas Vehicle at home with a compact home refueling station called Phill can be installed at home or in the garage.
The 2005 Mercury Meta One Concept, the world’s first PZEV-capable diesel hybrid. Other types of Diesels are coming out including the 2006 Jeep Liberty Diesel and a couple of others.
A Bio diesel fuel, Ethanol (E85) which uses only 15% Gasoline is yet another option for your vehicle. Apart from Ethanol, there are a couple of more fuels in the same category on which work is going on.
As far as different types of fuel go, hybrid is what is available now. The 2006 Ford Excape Hybrid/Mercury Mariner Hybrid, the Toyota Camry hybrid, 2006 Highland Hybrid, Nissan Altima, and the most popular Toyota Prius Hybrid are there and with more such projects in the pipeline.
Car-makers are using gasoline and diesel right now. Mercury should soon be out with a diesel hybrid. Another popular fuel for the future would be E85 (Ethanol) with only 15% gasoline which is being sold for Fuel Flex Vehicles.
The future seems to be of the renewable sources. Natural-Gas with home refueling system is going to be a good option if you have a natural-gas line going into your home. Hydrogen is not a bad option either. Some stations already have hydrogen in stock and is being sold at $4.75 a kilogram, which is equal to a gallon of gas, and gives double the mileage when compared to gasoline.
Let us wait and see as to which of the fuels would take the place of gasoline when we know that for there would be no shortage of gasoline for the next 100 years.
