When fuel economy is the buzz word, automakers would do their best to attain the best figures. Transmissions can play an important part by optimizing torque at lower revs, so, up is the way to go for transmissions. Lexus has already introduced eight-speed transmission, BMW is working on one, and there’s absolutely no reason why Hyundai shouldn’t get one too. Though there’s no official confirmation from Hyundai, it is speculated that the Genesis sedan will get an eight-speed gearbox, probably by 2010.
