After successful ten-month trials conduced by Nokia, Philips, Vodafone and Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) the local transport authority of Germany, the citizens of Hanau town will be able to get a quick facility to pay their bus fare.

The facility works using Nokia’s 3220 handset available at Vodafone shops which are installed with Near-Field Communications (NFC) circuitry used for contactless data transmission. The mechnanism is simple, commuters only have to brus their cell against a sensor which record all the journey details. At the end of the month RMV sents the bills right to your home.
