All of us like those monster trucks and the huge SUV’s that are larger than life itself. The huge American truck has almost always been the favorite among those who liked it rough and tough. As a young kid I was attracted to the Glass-shattering, huge monster truck entrance of Stone Cold, every time he came out that way. It was for a long time my only view of the big truck. But these huge monsters have never been the darlings of the eco-geeks. In fact, people who care for the environment have consistently bashed them and made them appear far more monstrous than they actually are.
But all that is about to now change forever with the all new MILA Alpine. The Austrian auto engineering firm, Magna Steyr has just taken off the wraps of its latest compact 4WD SUV, albeit a clean one at that which will keep the green brigade happy at the Geneva Motor Show. The fabulous new unveiling has made quite a few ripples among both those who love the big SUV’s and the green-geeks. Magna Steyr prefers to call their latest MILA Alpin concept vehicle a compact offroading climbing specialist which can be used both for utility and recreation. Compact SUV’s are not known to do real offroading like their bigger full blown brothers. They are more suited to hustle smaller cars in the cities and are often called jocularly called soft roader’s.
But the Alpin is far more than just a soft vehicle for those who are soft at heart. For starters, the Mila Alpin makes a radical departure from compact SUV territory by having a 3+1 passenger layout. The innovation continues even into the modular design cabin which can be made using a blend of different materials, layouts and to keep costs down, across different OEM’s. It has 3 different engines to fit its modular design with a range of fuel options from a small 100g CO2 per Km gasoline engine to Hybrid and a CNG version as well.
This might indicate to the world that finally SUV’s are getting serious about emissions and fuel efficiency. For offroading, the Mila Alpin has a huge ground clearance, independent suspension, a transfer lock case, Electronic stability program, and the mid engine layout which further aids stability. This is a real nice addition to the SUV’s and it makes sure that you can still appear cool without having to wreck the planet. I suppose the technological input in this vehicle is good, but we must put this under the eco-friend section!
