Waiting to launch its big mean machine in India, America’s Harley Davidson has requested India to relax the strict two-wheeler emission norms. The request was made through a video conference between senior Indian and US government officials. Harley Davidson bases its request on the fact that it is a highway bike and therefore, governed by a more relaxed emission norm as compared to normal city bikes.
With an engine size of over 500cc, it falls under relaxed norm in the US and Harley hopes India would follow suit. However, the problem is that India does not categorise two-wheelers for which it adopts a uniform emission norm.
