Ford has confirmed that a new, high performance Focus RS model will be launched in 2009. The new RS will be based on the Focus ST and be developed by Ford Team RS. This concept has been under development and will be first displayed in concept form by mid-2008. This concept will later be developed into a production version car to be debuted in 2009.
Jost Capito is leading the design team from Ford Team RS that is currently working on this model. In words of Jos Capito:
“We have reviewed our technical options and worked closely with the Design team on how the car might look, and I’m very excited by the results. Now with the programme going ahead, the hard work really starts as the small team working on the project takes the car from prototype to production.”
