Electric cars are slowly but surely going mainstream, and with the demand, more powerful solutions are appearing for use. Hitachi’s new battery for hybrid cars goes high on efficiency and betters the previous versions by a 70% increase in output density (at 4,500 Watts); and by 20% in longevity, with a lifespan of nearly 10 years. Hitachi aims to commercialize the batteries by the middle of the next year. Also under development is a less powerful version, with output density at half of this battery. Though even that, can claim to be better than currently available alternatives.
