Jakob Hirzel, a student of Transportation Design course at Pforzheim University has created a concept car for Honda Formula One driver, Jenson Button. It was a challenging task indeed as the car had to be based on Honda’s fuel cell technology. The concept was meant for a younger driver, considering the age of Jenson Button. The car, which has a beautiful sculpture but looks simple and sleek, is meant for any young sports loving guy. According to the designer, classic yacht boats inspired the car concept and the lifting roof. The process of creating the prototype was a mind grueling one, with many challenges like product appropriation, refining of the length of the bonnet and so on, which had to be worked out. Three models were created; a foam model, a clay model and the hard model. The hard model, which was created with negative mould of gypsum and glass fiber, was later laminated with glass-fiber reinforced plastic. The final model looks elegant, functional and attractive.
