Honda has announced that the production of the S2000 will be axed by the end of this year. The S2000 came into being as a limited edition model to celebrate the company’s 50 years, but stayed on due to a positive customer reaction. Year 2008 saw the model come in a CR trim, again well received by the consumers. Over the model’s lifetime, Honda has sold 110,000 units of the S2000, with about 65,000 sold in the United States.
