While research to build LPG powered cars for India is already at everones’s lips, yet Honda Motor Company, the main company behind it still refuses to divulge much information on this topic. The company known for being the next green carmaker next to Toyota wants to make sure that the kits for such cars best suit Indian auto climate.



Kingini International, Honda’s partner in this venture has recently received the green flag from Indian Petroleum industry to secure 400 kg of LPG from India. This procured LPG would be sent to Honda, Japan, for R&D. Honda is undertaking maximum effort to produce locally adaptable cars as the Japanese and Indian LPGs have inherent differences– LPG in Japan is 100% propane, India’s is 99.5% butane-based.

Honda is continuously exploring new fuel options that support environment friendly and sustainable technologies to power all Honda products. Our interest in alternate fuels such as CNG and LPG is part of this endeavour.



Hopefully, this should wipe out the use LPG cooking cylinders in cars which have been declared both unsafe and illegal.
