Giljams Hydra Spyder is a known concept(check), at least among Car fanatics but there is something more for the gang to know. This Boat car which runs both on road and water is now commercially available with six orders in lining .Giljam hopes to expand his new Factory within the next five years and produce 75 units per year .

For those of you still guessing what Hydra-Spyder actually is; An Amphibious Car that runs on blacktop as well as H2O. It is powered by a 502 CID Chevy Power race Engine producing 500 horsepower with a solid set of mufflers that mellow the heavy motor roar.

To switch to the Marine Mode the driver merely has to press a button, which disengages the road drive, and shifts the transmission into aquatic body .The Clutch drops and the wheels Retract automatically. The Jet-Drive Kicks in then allowing the Spyder to march over the waters at more than 50 miles per hour.

Its road performance is not bad at 16 to 18 miles per gallon of conventional gasoline. The price is eye-popping but then one doesn’t mind paying 155,000 USD for something that moves on ‘tar and water‘.

This is not the first land-mover to run on waters but it has a significance attached to it... It is potentially America’s first mass-produced Amphibious Automobile.
