Hyundai’s ix-onic concept, or the HED6 as it is sometimes called, is being prepared to take over the Tucson SUV. While the Tucson itself never managed to get the limelight, the ix-onic may do better as the second-generation Tucson. The ix-onic will come in production form at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this year.

Designed by Hyundai’s European center, the 2010 Tucson will be called ix-35 in Europe and will come with a 1.6-l turbocharged gasoline engine that will output 175hp. A more powerful 2.0-l 184hp turbo diesel engine is also on the cards.
