Hyundai has introduced a strong player to the A-segment in the shape of the new i10. The new car will take Citroen C1, Toyota Aygo, Fiat Panda, Ford Ka and even its mechanical sibling Kia Picanto head on next March onwards and that with floor crashing price of £6,500.

We call the i10 a sibling of the Picanto because both the cars have a lot to share. i10 shares a lot of mechanical details and its engine with the Picanto City Car, with the exception of being 10mm longer between the wheels and 70mm overall. The car will be built at Hyundai’s plant in Chennai, India, which is turning out to be a hotbed for small cars.

Hyundai’s i10 has a 1.1L 65bhp engine with emissions trimmed down to 119g/km. What sets the i10 apart from the pack is its cool range of standard equipment. The first car in its segment to get air-conditioning as standard, the i10 will also flaunt electric front windows, central locking, electric power steering, tinted glass, 14in alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers and a six-speaker CD player.
