hyundai veloster coupe concept
Hyundai scored above Kia in terms of future oriented cars at the Seoul Motor Show when it revealed the Veloster coupe Concept compared with the Kia future ‘ute. The futuristic concept which seems to have taken a few designing cues from the under production Tiburon and the LA debutant REMIX concept is ready to topple few others when it’s unveiled at Frankfurt.

To define this car, unique would be the apt word, though the cues have been heard off before but we can credit Hyundai to atleast bring out something different and it is that aspect of the word I catered too. Veloster, the name itself is different and well picked, as it is derived from a combination of velocity and a roadster. The name evokes the sporty characteristics of a classy two-plus-two.

Hyundai seems focused on their future as it is there third concept designed at the central styling studio in Korea, another of their daring concept gaining firmer grounds. The coupe concepts design is a hint enough that it has been designed for today’s generation.

At Seoul, this Coupe Concept sported a 2.0L four-cylinder, which drove the front wheels via a 5-speed manual, wonder whether it would be the same powertrain or Hyundai may spring a surprise by powering it with a better beast though the chances are meager.

Commenting on the Veloster, Hyundai VP of Design, Oh Suk-Geun cited:

With Veloster, we wanted to try something really different. We’re keenly aware that we need radically new products for the Y-generation, the first-time buyer in their twenties. This is really a bold new direction.

A bold move for sure as Hyundai combines some vintage cues with some avant-garde ones with an intent to attract young buyers!
