i blue concept from hyundai

Hyundai is all set to stand hand in hand with the so called environment friendly auto makers at this year Frankfurt Auto Show. The new hydrogen-powered i-Blue concept marks an entry level future crossover which is Hyundai’s third generation fuel cell technology developed at the companies Eco-Technology research institute in Korea.

However, the i-Blue fuel cell electric vehicle was developed at the company’s Design and Technical Center at Chiba, Japan. The hydrogen powered vehicle marks a big move from Hyundai towards marketing of its fuel cell vehicles. In past, the test vehicles were built on the SUV platform, but this time the zero emission i-Blue fuel cell electric vehicle will be based on a D segment 2+2 crossover utility vehicle body.

According to Dr. Hyun-Soon Lee President for the Hyundai research and development, i-Blue is first from all the fuel cell vehicle which is developed from the ground level to incorporate fuel-cell technology, enabling them to develop a more compact fuel cell vehicle which has the safety, comfort, expediency and driving capabilities of a conventional vehicle.

The company plans to mass produce these hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles for the future.
