The new Infiniti FX SUV may bring in another stage of evolution for hybrid vehicles. Likely to be powered by a new hybrid tech from parent Nissan, this SUV will have electrical motors running even at high speeds, unlike conventional hybrids where electric motors are used for initial acceleration or at low speeds.
Power from the electric motor even at high speeds obviously translates into greater fuel efficiency in all environments. There are no official details when this FX hybrid is likely to be mass produced, but it is not likely to hit the roads before 2011. 2009 Infiniti FX will come with a V6 or V8 engine or with a V6 diesel from Renault in 2010.
