The German trade wind (passat wind) is now the second model from VW to bear an R series Logo. The first one to carry an R logo was the Golf R32 thus; the Passat R36 is a successor to the R32 that carries a more powerful V6 engine. Passat being a family car, the VW engineers have built the R36 on a similar basis but with a more powerful engine, this family car R36 version offers a lot more.

The Passat R36 has a 3.6 -liter V6 engine that develops a whopping 296-brake horsepower. This enormous power enables the R36 to sprint from 0to 62 mph in mere 5.6 seconds with an electronically limited Top Speed of 155 mph. It has a six-speed DSG, manual gear transmission and the famous 4Motion AWD.

Better speed calls for better breaking thus the R36 comes with enhanced brakes and suspension. Passat has a tradition of being produced in various forms ever since its existence and the trend will not be parted with. The Saloon variant will be shortly followed by an estate variant which will be VW’s fastest ever load lugger.

The interior features a leather trimmed stature embracing, racecar type seats each solely bearing an R 36 logo. Adapted pedals, exclusive instruments, a sporty steering wheel and aluminum trimming further enhance the sporty feel.

The R36 will be unveiled at the Essen Motor Show in December and will be available for purchase early next year. It will bear an expected price tag of £28,000 for the saloon variant.
