There have been some really weird and some really cool vehicles that we have featured in the past but this one is an absolute delight not so much because it can break the land speed records or because it has the bling to carry you like an Emperor. This one does not come from the stables of Ferrari or the factory of McLaren. This is a design that one designer envisioned to save lives in regions of the world where an ‘Ambulance’ is a non-existent entity! This is all about saving every possible second to give new life for those in need.
Benoit Angibaud designed the Jaambaaro, a pedal-powered ambulance that’s designed to help people in rural Africa transport the sick or injured to get medical attention. It features a canopy for keeping people out of the sun and a stretcher that the injured can be loaded on. Then the driver hops in front, gets to pedaling, and off they go. While many might argue at what pace it might really work and if pedal power is fast enough to save lives one can safely say that something is better than nothing!
While there are many other fancy vehicles that are out there which are such huge hit among the Auto fans, this one is something that seriously aims to make a wonderful impact by saving lives. The designer surely deserves some props for that and maybe some financial help to make it a reality!

Jaambaaro looks great. In fact, it’s good that someone has thought of creating an ambulance for rural folks. This seems a great invention. It is just like a small rikshaw of the old style.
But I have some questions. Would it be available in those rural areas? Would it be suppied honestly to the rural people? Who and how can one drive it and what is the cost?
The government of nations should take it seriously. And than only it would be provided to the interior areas. So that it can serve its real purpose.
It is powered by people. Two people can pedal it simultaneously and that gives it a bit more pace than the Ricksahw of old style. The cost has not been disclosed by the maker, but as yourself told, if it is akin to the rickshaw then it must be not that costly.
The intent of the designer is to provide it to rural areas but he obviously needs help from some rich guys who are willing to donate and governments willing to cooperate.
Maybe one could use maybe technology like the REVs use and can use all that pedal powered and braking energy to charge up an in-built battery that would provide more pace when needed. Maight make it a bit more expensive that the original version, but not too much. Just a simple technology there. Let us see where it gets to. Hope it gets to the people.
