Jaguar F-type concept. Will it or not? That is the million dollar question on everybody’s mind at the Geneva motor show this year, fuelled further by Jaguar’s new owner, well almost new, Ratan Tata’s comments at the show. Mr Tata, still basking in the phenomenal Nano’s limelight, announced that he had strong feelings about the Jaguar F-type concept and sure enough had the grapevine buzzing. The Jaguar F-type concept first unveiled at the North American auto show in 2000 opened to rave reviews but soon was shelved as Jaguar and later Ford saw financial trouble.
Now with Tata motors’ almost acquired Jaguar, and with Mr Tata’s comments himself, the F-type concept might not just be a concept for much longer. The Beautiful long hooded Jag has long elegant sculpted body with the driver sitting close to the rearwheels. Now, for all you enthusiasts out there, who doesn’t like the sublime drift of a rear wheel drive sports car at full chat.
While some might call it hairy, but the true blue enthusiasts will call that the mark of a real sports car. The Jaguar was and maybe is still scheduled to have a supercharged 300bhp aj-V6 engine that it was first unveiled with, to propel it. Not too much considering today’s sports car standards but with the Jaguar’s rear wheel drive and light weight, it might prove to be just perfect. And Jag’s styling, which has always been top notch continues to be in the F-type with all that 22inch solid aluminium wheels and the aggressive bull dog stance, not to mention the LED tail lamps and the rounded curvy rear.
Would someone take off those weird looking horns for rear mirrors please? The F-type promises to be a driver’s car with it’s low set front aerofoil , rear diffuser tunnel aiding aerodynamics and some excellent weight distribution to imrove handling. The F-type looks hot with all the specs, but lets hope Tata will bring it to the roads. Till then the Brit Bulldog sadly, will be leashed.
