It all started on a paper napkin and now it is a reality. Don’t know about you guys but for me it is one of the greatest car evolution story of all times. Jay Leno has proven yet again that if you have a constant urge to excel, there is no stopping you ,provided you put in a high level of commitment, each time you set out on a new venture.

Jay Leno and Ed Welburn, General Motors VP of Global Design, introduced the EcoJet Concept at the SEMA 2006. A Honeywell LT-101 turbine engine that runs on Bio-Diesel Fuel powers the 650 Hp ‘Leno orignal’. Leno has used a Corvette Z06 and tuned its exterior using hydro formed aluminum frame with aluminum and magnesium structural and chassis components.
The Shell is an advanced construction of Carbon Fiber over Kevlar. Ed Welburn quoted
EcoJet’s esthetics were driven by aeronautical and jet-age influences. It’s a purpose-driven design that conveys power, capability and even danger, with a hint of Cadillac’s sophisticated design vocabulary.

Another man who deserves thorough credit for the EcoJet genesis apart from Leno and Welburn is Bernard Juchli. Juchli not only went through avid discussions with Leno when the EcoJet was a mere ‘napkin design’, he took on the responsibility along with the entire Big Dog Team to make Leno’s vision a reality.
