DC shoes co founder Ken Block who is also a complete auto enthusiast, a well known racing freak, is once again all set to get his new custom vehicle. Ken has selected a 06 Mercedes-Benz CLS for his latest project.
As we all know that Ken likes to have the cars built on the west coast, this one turned different instead, he has picked the east coast for the job. He singled out Matt Figliola’s shop-Ai Design of Marnaroneck, New York for the makeover.
Block has visualized a matte-black finish, for the new project and if we believe Figliola, there is no margin of error for Kens work as he elaborates:
Gloss paint lets you wet-sand and polish out imperfections, but matte’s not for the faint of heart, with no recourse but to respray, even with a light scratch or dust pickup.
The focus of tuning is on giving the car an altogether different look and the tuners worked out with the car by converting its chrome trim to gloss piano black, which forms a perfect contrast with the matte colored exteriors and satin black headlight buckets. Its wheel center has also got a matte-finish, with a glossy outer section.
As Figliola is a Brabus dealer, the Customized version comes out with a complete range of its aero parts, which includes a nose, hood, rear and side spoilers.
The Brabus tuned K8 engine comes with modded pulleys, reprogrammed ECU and free flow exhausts, which delivers a modest 75 hp more than the AMG tuned version.
The customized car comes with a 25-millimeter lowering kit and Michelin Pilot Sport tires along with contrasting matte-orange Brembo calipers. Its interiors come with a piano-black wood finish and Brabus steering wheel with paddle shifters.
So the freak has another car ready to win some more hearts and how could he do it without instructing the tuner to have a shoe logo casted on it, thus, the car has a bronze casted DC shoe Logo done in a Piano Black Finish.
