I felt a great sense of relief back in April when the Australian bike and now car manufacturer, KTM made it public that they would mass-produce the 700 kg, 300 hp, X-Bow for otherwise an admirable product would have become unobtrusive in the throng. The only thing, which was troubling me from then on, was the price tag with which this car would be made public.

It first came into mention in December last year and that time around its price was expected to be 40,000 Euros, which was understandably a speculation. Then, the news of it being mass-produced sprouted and the speculators at around $55,000 US adjusted the pricing accordingly with bulk production expected to bring down the prices but not lower than 55 grands.

Expectedly, it couldn’t be lower than that as a lot goes into producing such a lightweight car, which packs a punch and then those factors like sourcing carbon monocoque and its lightweight chassis from names like Dallara, an engine featuring in the Audi S3
and a 0 to 60 timing of 3.9 seconds, the now made public pricing EUR of 45,850/GBP 31,650 (excl. taxes)/ $62,570 US justify every bit of it.

The price definitely is touch above the expected range but as I mentioned above there is hardly an issue with that considering the make of the car and the performance it delivers. Wondering whether the pricing would affect its sales, well, just for the records in April and May alone, KTM received orders for 600 of these, a clear indication that its rarity is the key factor, so just forget the price!
