Kumho has no intention of stepping into vehicle design, but it does come up with interesting design studies. The tire manufacturer who earlier displayed an environmentally friendly racecar concept, has now come up with an all electric SUV concept, the Fortis. Just like the previous concept, this one has been designed by Kumho’s in-house designer Rob Dolton, and it shows what an SUV could be like.

The off-roader easily shifts between drive configurations, and can easily shift between AWD, 2WD, RWD and FWD. Power comes from rechargeable Lithium ion batteries. Since the concept comes from a tire manufacturer, it has quite a bit to boast in terms of tire tech. The tread pattern on tires can be adjusted to ensure optimum performance and grip under all conditions. This is made possible by the use of special metal biters, that remain covered in rubber while on road, but once off-road, a tube deflates to put these biters out and improve grip. A number of vehicle parts ranging from bumper sections, doors, bonnet, front wings and rear hatch are made of recycled rubber.
