While the Abarth powered Fiats where amongst the hottest you could drive in the fifties and sixties, this a role that Opel’s VRX, Honda’s Type-R and VW’s GTI are playing today. Fiat has decided to change things, and to let the famous scorpion appear on some models.

The two first models will be cool little meatballs
500 Abarth and the Grande Punto Abarth as shown here on our spy photos.
In case of the Grande Punto Abarth, power will come from a turbocharged 1.4 litre four-cylinder engine producing up to 180 horsepower in its most powerful version, combined with a six-speed gearbox.
Such a hot Punto will need some big brakes to, and Abarth has taken four-pot Brembo brake calipers to make the car stop just where you want. Maybe it’s just in front of a crowd of people who want to take a closer look at the scorpion’s wider fenders, the big grille or the lovely looking 17 inch alloys.
Where ever you are with the Abarth, everyone will enjoy the magical sound.
In Geneva, Fiat already showed a teaser of this car but the real car will be out in September this fall.
