In January, 2006 Lincoln showed its MKS concept car, which they announced would arrive at dealers in spring 2008 as a 2009 model. While the introduction of a concept car at a major auto show is a well planned event, accompanied by music, lights, and corporate honchos with prepared speeches, the arrival of a new car in Death Valley is also a welcome event - at least by the spy photographers who are there in the heat, waiting. In this case the event was the arrival of a large moving van, with one prototype being carefully backed out into the open. The car - a production prototype of the Lincoln MKS.
Despite the disguise on front and rear, one can easily see that the production model will follow closely to the shape and style of the concept car. Some phony panels at the rear of the roofline make it appear that the car has a boxy roofline, but the sloping glass at the rear indicates that the real car has a gently sloping rear glass as on the concept car. The glossy black paint set off by big chrome wheels and door handles gives a classy look to the prototype, despite the vinyl covers front and rear.

Engine will be a 4.4 liter V8 with 315 horsepower. Drivetrain will be a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive. Inside, the car will feature the latest luxury touches including heated and cooled leather seats, a panoramic glass roof, navigation system, Bluetooth, etc. The photos include a shot of the new model’s cockpit.
