Volkswagen is preparing the release of the new VW Golf; arguably the company’s flagship model, for the end of 2008. The car will be new and has been redesigned from the ground up. Volkswagen’s head designer Walter de Silva oversaw its final styling.

Here are the latest photos of a prototype, taken in Death Valley. According to insider information, the front end of the sixth generation Golf will (despite earlier rumours) not look like a small Passat but will have a narrow front grille with four bars and new headlights with LED elements. Besides the common engines, Volkswagen will offer a so-called BlueMotion version and a Hybrid version from 2009 on.
