Remember those times as a kid, when you used to lean off the bars on the back streets of your neighbourhood doing a Micky Doohan, the only difference being, you were on your pedal powered bicycle instead of a raging MotoGP motorcycle. Now, the Swiss custom bike car and builder, Sbarro plans to let you relive those days with a very fresh, very stylish, and chic looking concept called the Pendolauto.
This unique moto-mobile, is a cross between a motorcycle and a four wheeler, was showcased at this year’s Geneva auto show. Well, what makes the Pendolauto a moto-mobile? It all boils down to the wheels where it all begins. The Pendolauto has four wheels as opposed to two on a regular motorcycle but is still a motorcycle. The Pendolauto’s connection with a car ends right with the four wheels.
Wheels apart, the Pendolauto is an out and out motorcycle with right down to the way you can lean it on the twisties. Alright, the wheels remain planted to the road during hard cornering but you can shift weight to change direction on the pendolauto courtesy a special gyro, which allows you to lean off the motorcycle and depending on your lean angle, changes direction, just like a regular motorcycle.
With four contact patches, the Pendolauto is more stable and safer than a conventional motorcycle. For now, the engine and other details appear sketchy but expect a powerful performance machine from Sbarro. The transparent wheels have the showy pizzaz of a one off concept but knowing Sbarro, expect it be road going shortly. U.S bikers, sadly, will still have to wait until the current legislation, changes to allow this sexy moto-mobile on U.S shores. Till then, the Pendolauto will scratch around, on the European back roads.
