Lee Iacocca unveiled the first Ford Mustang to the world 45 years ago at the 1964 New York World’s Fair. He has now unveiled the Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang. The project is a collaborative effort by Iacocca, designer Michael Leone, and coachbuilder Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters. It will be offered to the public through California dealership Galpin Ford.
The car is based on the 2009 Mustang platform, and has the fastback look. Power comes from a naturally aspirated 4.6-l V8 generating 320hp, or you could choose to have a supercharged motor delivering 400hp. The car is mostly hand-built, and gets an upgraded suspension, Ford Racing Handling Package, and moves on 20-inch aluminum wheels.
Its exteriors are marked by sunken headlights, slanted grill and low stance. Interiors get diamond stitched leather trim, an Iacocca signature dash plaque and serial number, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and aluminum door sill plates. Only 45 instances of the 2009 ½ Mustang will be made. No word on pricing or availability yet.
