It was around a week back that we came across a very crude attempt to try and bring the concept of Catamaran on to road and that was called ‘Catama’ by a certain designer who failed to deliver anything impressive. This is the exact opposite of that and is everything that we wished to see and more in a design that brings the Catamaran on to land. The Lexus Nuaero is one of the finest concept designs amalgamating a very unique touch with the modern pre-requisites of a concept car like fashion, sleek aerodynamics and an eye for the future.

Swedish automotive design graduate Jon Radbrink presented a concept for a catamaran-shaped car at the Royal College of Art graduation show in London. Called the Lexus Nuaero, it features motors in the wheels and a touch-screen dashboard where the information and controls can be moved around. The driving system is controlled solely by hand without the use of foot pedals; to break, the driver pushes the steering wheel away from their body.

Radbrink, a graduate from the RCA’s Vehicle Design course, won the Pilkington Award for Best Use of Glazing for the design of Lexus Nuaero and claims that his car represents new aerodynamics of the future. The core of concept of sustainability is efficiency. In the future we will have to have vehicles that are efficient in every way; from their efficient use of and lightness in materials, their efficient form and architecture, to their efficient use of fuel and resources. Now that is plenty of style with lot of substance and more. Fine design with an ultra-cool motive!
