The Segway is now making quite a progress in terms of being a viable alternative transportation medium and is catching on fast. While going around on one of these would still grab plenty of attention and make heads swirl around, they are making their way slowly but surely in to the consumer market. The Segway is not just here to stay, but also take over. Personally, I have always been a big fan of Segway, especially since the day Ferrari brought out one of their own. The Segway seems such a cool and more importantly, environmentally acceptable choice of transportation.
Now the Segway is also being remodeled and revamped to suit the standards that the user wishes to see in them. One of the major problems of using one of these is the recharging of the battery. Now that problem is also being solved by researchers across the planet. The Segway now has a fuel cell that supplements the charge and also simultaneously runs the Segway till the batteries are once again completely charged. The Fuel cell being used on these Segways is no larger than a can of coke, so all you will need to do is carry an extra couple of cans.
While the weight will not add anything heavy to your Segway, it will surely give you extra distance and also an increased time on the Segway without having to stop for recharging. The technology is not just being researched for civilian purposes but also for military ones, due to the Segway’s great utility value. Now if only I could get my hands on one of these.
