GM does not have enough Malibu’s in its inventory to sell! Overhauling the Malibu is paying rich dividends and there is a long list of people waiting to get hold of the car. Shortage of the cars is indeed pleasant news for GM bosses. General Motors has ramped up production of the car so that customers don’t have to wait long.
Dealers say they are running short of enough options for the Malibu as well as the car itself. GM understands that the Malibu is in one of the most crowded car segments and if it keeps customers waiting, chances are they would go for Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. A little shortage of the car can be helpful in creating a buzz and drawing more customers towards it. But presently, GM can bask in the success of this car; however, a few more months of non-availability and Malibu will have a number of lost sales on hand.
