His love for the vintage Pan Am first-class cabin prompted Anthony Toth to build one for himself, in his garage. Built like the cabins the airline used in the late ‘70s and 80s, Anthony’s garage-made first class cabin has pairs of red and blue reclining seats, luggage bins and a curved red carpeted staircase.
The 42-year-old global sales director at United Airlines, was in love with the Pan Am cabin and style even as a child, and saved a number of things like cardboard linings, food trays, and had a number of images of the cabin and tape recordings of the radio selection on board.
It took him 20 years to complete the project, which involved a number of trips to Death Valley to rummage through airplane carcasses and create his precise replica. The cabin is incredibly detailed and precise, to faithfully recreate the cabin from the late 1970s.
