Small change does add up to big savings, in case you have doubt on this, ask Paul Brant. The seventy year old had bought a truck in 1994 and it is likely he went into saving gear for his next vehicle right at that point. Thirteen years of thriftiness paid back as he went into a dealership, escorted by sheriff’s deputies and nearly $26,000 in change to buy himself a brand new 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4×4.
It is anybody’s guess what those nickels and dimes weighed, but for the record, Mr. Brant estimates that $200 in quarters weighs approximately nine pounds. It took him half a day to collect and load the change into an armored car to transport the money to the Dodge dealer. What the dealer is going to do with all that change and how is he going to manage it remains a matter of speculation for us.
But we guess it isn’t the first time this dealership has seen Mr. Brant. In 1994, he bought a Dodge pickup and a Dodge Neon ... you guessed that right, he paid in coins. Brant apparently inherited this habit from his father, whom he recalls using loose change to take the family for vacations!
