Thursday saw the advent of a new type of bioplastic into the auto world. The combined strength of Mazda Motor Corp and Hiroshima University developed the new plastic from corn that can be moulded into any forms. The new discovery is high-strength and heat-resistant material which requires 30 per cent less energy to develop compared to the commonly used Polypropylene. Best part is that, it is carbon neutral using reduced amounts of fossil fuels during production with lesser carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. It can be used both in the vehicle’s exterior and interior when commercial production starts within a few years.
