McLaren has announced plans to develop a supercar. The first car from the company after the iconic F1 will also be the cleanest in its class and will set new standards for safety as well. It will get to benefit from McLaren’s F1 tech and will get lightweight carbonfiber materials, and possibly a KERS style system for better performance.
The P11 supercar is expected to be powered by a Mercedes AMG-sourced 6.2-litre V8. A thousand models will be produced in the first year itself, when the car launches in 2011. It is expected to cost near the £150,000 mark.
